STATUTES

The International Symposium on Small Form Ceramics – “Navigation XIV” will be held from September 22th till October 7th in Ventspils House of Crafts, Ventspils, Latvia.

An exhibition of artworks made during the symposium will be opened in an exhibition hall of the House of Crafts. After the symposium, each artist donates one work to the city.

Symposium organizers: Ventspils Museum in cooperation with Jānis Kupčs

Symposium sponsors: State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF),Ventspils municipality

Symposium objectives:

1. To bring together artists–ceramists within a united creative activity.

2. To promote interest in Ventspils as the city stimulating artistic value.

3. To use resources of the ERDF and Ventspils municipality, invested in the pottery of the House of Crafts with motivation.

4. To refresh the artistic collection of Ventspils museum with the works made by the symposium participants, and artistically enrich the environment of Ventspils municipal institutions.

Venue: Ventspils, Latvia.

Event Date: September 22 till October 7, 2024

Participants: professional ceramists from Latvia and all over the world. There are 5 artists taking part in the symposium. The symposium curator will make a selection of participants with consultations from the administration of the Ventspils museum (Application form, CV, and visual information which is given by the requirements of organizers).

Symposium organizer’s responsibility (provide organizers):

  1. Residence costs in Ventspils (hotel).
  2. Material, essential tools, and premises for work.
  3. Publicity opportunities (information in mass media).
  4. Recreation opportunities, excursions in the city and its surroundings, acquaintance with Ventspils artistic and cultural objects.
  5. Opportunities to present the creative work (CD with participant’s works or other visual material).
  6. Closing exhibition (opening on October 19, 2023).

 Artists’ responsibility (provide artists):

1. Special tools and materials necessary for work.

2. Health insurance policy is recommended.

3. Presentation of the artist’s creative work (CD, catalogs, or other visual materials).

4. One work made during the symposium the artist donates to Ventspils City.

Participants shall send in:

1. Application form.

2. CV

3. Application portfolio (images of 3-5 artworks created during the previous 3 years). Other informative materials in electronic format can be attached (catalogs, postcards, etc.)
