The most important part of the collection is the writer’s extensive library, his manuscripts and study furnishings. A small exhibition tells of the life and creative work of Herberts Dorbe-writer, translator, teacher and regional historian. The museum collects all kinds of material relating to writers of Ventspils and the region, and to the history of schools.
Dorbe’s garden is a pleasant meeting place for pupils from schools and kindergartens in Ventspils, who have come to love the museum, and in autumn 2002 the garden was augmented with a sculpture ‘Dwarf and the pumpkin’ by Krišs Erdmanis.
